Logbook Loans in Uganda: Start with Clarity.
If you own a vehicle and are considering borrowing against its logbook, begin with the conditions that matter: your borrowing purpose, the vehicle’s eligibility, the proposed security arrangements and your ability to repay. LMK Credit offers logbook loan enquiries from borrowers considering UGX 2 million and above, subject to the product’s actual criteria and assessment.
Website enquiries start from UGX 2 million. All facilities are subject to assessment and applicable product terms.

What is a logbook loan?
A logbook loan is a form of borrowing in which an eligible motor vehicle may be used as security for the facility. The precise legal documentation, registration arrangements, possession or continued use of the vehicle, valuation requirements and default consequences depend on the lender’s approved terms and applicable law.
For that reason, never assume that submitting a logbook automatically qualifies you for credit or that ownership and use will remain unchanged. Ask for the proposed arrangements in writing.
When might a vehicle owner consider one?
A logbook facility may be worth discussing when you own an eligible vehicle and have a specific financing need with an identifiable repayment source. Possible needs can include business cash flow, a planned purchase or a significant expense, depending on LMK’s lending policy. Borrowing to solve a short-term shortage should still make sense after you account for every instalment.
What will LMK need to assess?
You can begin with your name, phone number, district, estimated amount and purpose. During a later assessment, LMK may explain whether information about the vehicle, legal ownership, registration, condition, value, existing finance or insurance is needed. The final document checklist must be confirmed by LMK. Do not upload identity or vehicle ownership documents through the public introductory form.
Before accepting a logbook loan, understand:
The vehicle and security: Which vehicle is involved, what security interest is proposed, what rights you keep and which procedures apply if repayments are missed. The amount: How the amount offered relates to assessment and affordability, not just a vehicle’s apparent market price. The full cost: Interest method, processing or other fees if applicable, repayment dates and total payable. The agreement: What must happen before release of funds, what documents are signed and what happens after the balance is settled. The risks: Consequences of arrears and how to contact LMK early if your repayment position changes.
How the enquiry works
- Choose Logbook Loans in the enquiry form.
- State the amount you are considering and how you plan to use it.
- LMK explains the next stage of document and vehicle eligibility review.
- If a loan is offered, review the written security and repayment terms carefully before deciding.
Discuss interest rates, fees and repayment terms
The applicable rates, fees, charges and repayment periods are explained during a consultation at the LMK office, by phone, through WhatsApp or by email. Before entering a loan agreement, you will receive the proposed terms and financial costs in writing for review. Ask our team to explain the full repayment commitment for your specific facility.
Logbook loan FAQs
Can I qualify with any vehicle?
Vehicle eligibility is assessed under LMK’s product conditions. Vehicle type, registration and ownership are matters to confirm with LMK.
Will I continue driving my car?
Do not rely on a general promise. Ask LMK to explain any possession, use and security conditions for the actual facility in writing.
How much can my logbook help me borrow?
No specific amount can be promised without the vehicle and borrower assessments. Start by enquiring about the amount you need.
What happens if I miss a payment?
Review the arrears procedure, any permitted charges, communications and lawful enforcement process in the agreement. Contact the lender early if repayment becomes difficult.
Can a financed vehicle qualify?
You must disclose any existing finance or competing security. LMK determines eligibility under its lending policy.
